No problem, I do agree that’s helpful! Please let everyone know where the discussion will be so they can participate.

The current wiki user/password is:

Thank you Herb

Of course, the essential discussion will happen in Kona.

Still, having some less formal and more diverse discussions upfront might help. A bit of extra time to listen and talk cannot do any harm. I’m trying to be helpful by creating the opportunity for such exchanges. Whether people join or not is up to them, and not joining is also, in a way, a statement.

Regarding the wiki link: since the wiki has moved, the password is no longer known. There was a temporary one for Hagenberg, but what is the new one?

Thanks Harald,

Not at all, we welcome more participation, and that’s what NB review is for! Although formal CD comments close next week, new informal comments/issues are always welcome. We always listen to input.

Note that all the national bodies will be discussing the contracts NB comments near the beginning of our next meeting on 3-8 November <https://isocpp.org/files/papers/N5023.pdf> . We intend to prioritize the larger NB comments items to tackle them sooner in the week, which includes contracts, so I expect that discussion to be scheduled during the first half of the meeting (Monday, Tuesday, and/or Wednesday). The detailed daily schedule has not yet been set, but will be available in the next few weeks on the meeting wiki <https://wiki.edg.com/bin/view/Wg21kona2025/WebHome> (for contracts, I expect it to appear on the EWG sub-page, usually 1-2 weeks before the meeting).

To Sweden and all NBs that submit comments on contracts (or anything else): It is very important that you please make sure you have experts present to participate in the discussion and hear the responses to your concerns. Remote Zoom participation is supported.

Also, it would really help if the NB comments and papers emphasize what new information is available that the committee hasn’t yet considered (if you know). That can include: new examples; new problems; new usability feedback (e.g., new experience using the prototype); and that more new people/NBs are concerned about previously raised information and so we can repeat discussion of those with them present. We try to allocate most meeting time for new information.

Thanks

Herb

Thanks a lot to everyone for the feedback, and also for the help I received on how to proceed!

As suggested, I created a paper, which I will reference in a comment on the current working draft at our NB.
The paper number is P3849R0.

I am especially thankful to the experts who agreed to discuss this topic with our NB in an online session.
I would also like to invite participants from other national bodies to join this discussion. Given the tight timeline, there are limited date options, but I will submit suggestions as soon as possible, most likely at the end of week 42 or the beginning of week 43.

I have also asked the ecostd group for a discussion on this topic, including experts from SG21.

I hope these efforts will lead to productive and valuable outcomes, and I apologize if my initiative has caused any inconvenience.

/Harald

Dear all,

The Swedish SC22 mirror committee TK611/AG09 has discussed the current working draft of C++26 and identified concerns regarding contract assertions. We have summarized these in the attached document.

As convener, I see it as my duty to mediate these concerns. I would therefore appreciate guidance on how to proceed and to ensure that our experts’ concerns, as well as similar concerns from others, are taken into account.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
Harald
Convener, SIS/TK611/AG09 (Sweden)
