It’s preferable to have separate posts. Not everybody who follows the discussion is subscribed. If someone looks at the posts on the website they won’t see your responses in 2 of these threads. Also, some might use the thread view in their email software and stop following one of the threads because it got too boring. They will also miss your answers. Some might even only read responses to their own posts. If you want to make sure to engage with that particular person you have responded to, you should post it as direct response (i.e. as proper email response) to their post. This increases the chances that this person will read your response (and continues the discussion).
The website also kind of works as an archive of all these discussions. The thread view is quite nice to catch up on some ancient discussions. Don’t destroy the threads! It makes it much easier to follow discussions after the fact.
