Thanks for that link; I wasn't aware that this has been proposed in 2016.
I'm not surprised that it was rejected though. It's unreasonable to
just randomly remove a feature that code relies on. Deprecation is the
way to go if there isn't a concrete need to do the former.
Anyhow, I'm still submitting my paper, but I should mention P0281 at some point.
