My one concern is that we should better have something neat on the schedule by the time we have the joint meeting, and our telecons are currently emptying that pool.

I believe that it is worthwhile organising such an SG22 meeting in Búzios. I would be very excited to meet (at least a subset of) you in person, and I believe having some in-person meeting time would benefit the group dynamics in SG22, and thus our collective technical work, going forward. This is a unique opportunity which we might not get again.
